JULY 2009 UPDATE

HITHER TO THE LORD
HAS HELPED US

It is wonderful to have the privilege to
communicate with you again. Since our
last S.O.S., we can say to you, “Hither
to, the Lord has helped us.” You
responded in a way that only persons
motivated by the Spirit of the Living
God could have done. We were not
able to catch up with all expenses in
Brazil, but your gifts from June 15 to
July 15, were sufficient to begin to
catch up.  Mr. D.J. Mangum, KDC
treasurer (phone: 804-730-1733), will
be able to give you a detailed report, if
you so desire, (all finances are
handled by the treasurer and audited
yearly to avoid any appearance of evil).

KOINONIA-BRASIL UPDATE
Because of our time in America, we felt
it necessary to have Koinonia-Brasil
elect someone from Brazil to lead the
organization there at this time. On July
21, the Koinonia-Brasil Executive Board
met to elect a new president. I am truly
excited about this, because this will
involve more local people, and that is a
plus for Koinonia. I will continue as the
President for Koinonia USA, and Rev.
Theresa Long will continue as our
Moderator. Please, be praying for all of
us as, in the Spirit of the Living God, we
ride this financial storm.
May God
continue to
bless
you as you
search diligent
His will
regarding how
He would have
you  relate to
the
ministry of
KDC in Brazil.

URGENT
PRAYER REQUESTS

*Cristina and Silver as they continue the work in Brazil.
They are troopers and doing the best in spite of our
difficult times. Pray that they will continue to depend on
God’s resources.

*For the Mayor’s Office in Marechal Floriano. The New
Mayor decided to give us a hard time. Please, keep on
praying for those working in Brazil, so they will not be
intimidated by the constant harassment.

*Pray for the new team that will be leading Koinonia-Brasil
(Notice that BRASIL is with”S”. That is the way it is spelled
in Portuguese). May God give them vision and fortitude.
We know, these are difficult times, but we must not give up.

*Pray for Jerry’s health. Tough times have a tendency to
provoke some aches and pain that are not normally part of
our bodies. Reports from the doctor are good and for that
we rejoice and praise His Holy Name.

*Pray for our finances. Thank God as He continues to
provide friends like you who are willing to help. Our
monthly needs are about $ 6,000.00 monthly. We are
continuing to trust God and His people to supply all our
needs (You may receive a financial report by calling D.J.
Mangum).

*Pray for the new classes and teachers who are helping.
Volunteer service is still a new thing is Brazil. When a
person accepts to serve as a volunteer, generally he/she
expects gratification. When we are not able to provide
financial gratification, he or she quits. Please, pray for an
outpouring of God’s mercy upon Brazilians capable of
helping us.

*Pray for those in leadership of the Koinonia Farm. Long
term plans are for the farm to not only be self-supporting
but to also provide finances for more direct ministry for the
children.

*Pray for the two families working at the farm that have to
be dismissed for the farm to stay afloat. The financial
situation in Brazil in very difficult as well. We do not want to
see the families going in want.
Please continue to pray for the work in Brazil. Cristina
continues to uphold the work in Brazil. At this time Silver
McCoy, a volunteer from, San Jose, California, is there
serving with her. In order for Cristina to have resources to
continue to do the work, we need to support her financially.
Our (Sylvia and Jerry’s) presence in the USA will allow us to
communicate with you continuously and let you know what is
happening. We understand this country is going through a
tough time; however, God is not limited by circumstances. He
is able to overcome any financial difficult. Also, if you would
like to give Cristina a call, she has a direct phone from the
US (408-228-0151) and any call to her is the same as if you
were calling San Jose, California.
